Every year brings its own unique set of victories and defeats, struggles and joys. Whatever season of life you are in at the moment, it is important to look back and reflect on how the year went so that you can adjust your sails for 2022. Lookback, reflect and take some downtime to recharge.

In 2022, you will get a year older. A weird but beautiful thing happens as you get older. You stop caring about the people who usually would get under your skin, you start focusing on your own life and the things that make you happy. Everything will get better as you get older, everything just kind of starts to make sense and maybe it’s because you begin to realise that no one but you can get you where you want to be.

The past year might have been tough but you have grown in more ways than you could ever imagine. You did your best and that is always enough. You are enough, you always are and always will be enough. Be kind to yourself, today and always.

If your biggest achievement in 2021 was to simply make it this far, to simply wake up each morning and simply survive — that is something to celebrate too. Don’t be ashamed of the wars your soul has fought in order to live. Keep healing and surrounding yourself with the people who make you believe in the goodness and the beauty of being alive.

Be gentle with yourself and never forget that even the smallest step forward is still a step towards who you want to become. You don’t have to know what comes next and you don’t have to have everything figured out right this second. You are living, growing and changing as you ride through your journey of life. So be patient with yourself and smile at not knowing what comes next.

This year, I did not live every single day. Some days were very good, some terribly bad. I learned that to grow, I had to heal. To feel happy, life had to be painful. I learned that not all things matter in life but the things that do, I must hold onto. I experienced all sorts of emotions. I had highs and lows. I lost friends, got new ones. I experienced failure, loneliness, frustration, confusion, I felt lost at times, I missed people and places but above all, I survived and you did too. We fought 365 battles — some that we won and some that we lost. Above all, we survived.

As this year comes to an end, I hope you have some time to pause and reflect on the year that has passed. I hope you notice how much you have grown, how much you have achieved and learned. I hope you allow yourself to release the feeling of guilt that creeps in as the year ends because you didn’t get to do it all this year.

I hope you have the kind of year you really need. I hope the year brings the huge breakthrough that you’ve been working towards. I hope the coming days bring you unexpected joy and remind you how wonderful it is to be alive. I hope you find happiness and love. I hope you get the best of what you deserve. 💕

A lot of you probably have resolutions set for the new year. I am not a fan of the tradition of making new year’s resolutions. In my opinion, resolutions do not work — they’re just wishes or dreams that we want to achieve with no target date. Even if resolutions were well defined, not as dreams, but as achievable goals, they do not have to do anything with the calendar year. This year, make short term goals with deadlines and achieve them! :)

In 2022, celebrate your big and little wins. Find things to smile about everywhere you go. Look for the kindness in others. Make time to hangout with the people you like being with. If you have a dream, follow it, sprint towards it with a fiery passion and race towards it with a fighting spirit. You do have what it takes and you can do this! Be kind, be thankful for the little things in life, change for the good and make the best out of the coming year!

I hope you have an incredible and remarkable year :)

Happy New Year!
